Obon/Parade Festival
Since it was a very hot day we didn't stay long but there were street parades and newbies rockin' on stages along with all the many shops and stands packed side by side. We caught lots of goldfish (which, sadly, bellied up one by one over the next few days to Aislinn's horror). Gabe surprised me with a delicious coconut smoothie but when I got near to finishing the cup what I thought was chunks of chocolate turned out to be strange jelly-like blubbery raisin things which really grossed me out.
Natalie didn't want to dress in a yukata (summer kimono) too many wrappings for her, but she did look very cute at home when I tried it on her for the first time.

Update on Raiden
Thank you to everyone for your prayers, we really appreciated the comfort.
We didn't email or call everyone so I'll just put in all the details so far for those who don't know.
After a 21 hour labor Raiden was born at 6:12 PM on the 27th of June, weighing 3418 grams and measuring 48.7 cm. He actually looked kinda chubby.
He cried and could breath but was choking. The doctor did CPR and kept cleaning his throat out but when they'd stop to let him breath on his own he'd start to turn blue again. By 7:30 they rushed him by ambulance to a larger hospital. Gabe had to wait over two hours before they let him in NICU.
The next day my hospital let me out for a few hours to see Raiden. Gabe said he looked much better then the night before and the nurse told us he's a strong, healthy baby and progressed alot overnight. He mostly slept when we were there which the nurse said is a good sign.
We got photo's but its not easy to see his face well with all the tubes. I tried loading them up to the computer but our card reader seems broken. I'll post photo's as soon as I can.
On the 29th they took off the nose tubes and Gabe gave him is first bottle. He guzzled it and wanted more. On the 30th the nurse said he cried alot and made a fuss because he was hungry. He was able to drink more this time and when he finished the bottle he got all lazy and happy. We brought him a present of a pacifier because the nurses were using a bottle nipple that kept falling out; he really liked the pacifier.
Most of the other babies in NICU are preemies, Raiden in his incubator beside them looks huge. He moves about in his bed alot; we keep putting his head back on the pillow and facing us so we can see him. Once he even stuck his leg out of the incubator.
For now it seems he'll have to stay for a week more in that hospital, but he's doing well.

They are just so cute
While Natalie and Aislinn were busy drawing and coloring in the next room I was setting up the bedding on the floor of their room (we planned a kind of slumber party the night before). I put the bunk bed ladder on the top bunk so Natalie won't be climbing up and down and maybe seeing the bedding on the floor get the bright idea to jump. She's been trying to get up the courage to be more daring lately... to copy Aislinn probably. Anyway, I get the ladder on the top bunk and from the pile of cushions I hear this little giggle. My camera was nearby so I got a picture.
And another of them together; Natalie is still having a laugh at me.

Meow
Funny thing happened the other day while we were driving. There was quite a bit of traffic in our lane so we were inching along. A scooter was hogging the opposite lane with a line of cars behind him when suddenly out of his moped a cat jumped high over his head and pounced on the sidewalk. The startled guy jerks on the brake then bounces along till he pulls over to get his runaway cat. The car right behind the scooter was very intrigued and took his time to overtake even after the cat-man pulled over. The cat was a silky grey, shorthaired with a stunning collar. It looked up the very skittish owner and ran on. As I drove ahead to keep up with traffic the man kept running along, zigzagging poles, shop signs, or a parked bicycle trying to catch his runaway cat.
